Pump Track Skateboard Championships at Inter River Park
The Pump Track Skateboard Championships lit up Inter River Park in North Vancouver with a high-energy celebration of speed, skill, and community. As riders rolled in to the beat of pumping music, the day kicked off under grey skies—but the weather quickly proved ideal. Light cloud cover and cool temperatures kept everyone fresh and focused, setting the stage for some seriously fast racing.
Competitors began with two qualifying laps, after which they were divided into five categories: Grom, Junior, Masters, Women, and Open. As the day progressed, the crowd grew louder and more electric, cheering as riders shaved precious fractions off their lap times. The competition tightened with every round, creating an atmosphere thick with anticipation.
By the final shootouts, tensions were high, and the margins were razor-thin. The Open class finale was especially thrilling, with Shawn Prier (left photo) narrowly edging out Matt King (right photo) to claim the trophy and the cash prize. It was a hard-fought victory in a day full of adrenaline, friendly rivalries, and nonstop action.(Photos: Shawn Prier on the left, Matt King on the right.)
One of the day’s highlights came from the Junior division, where young ripper Cypress turned heads by tearing up the track on a full-sized Landyachtz Evo. Watching Cypress carve smooth lines and clock competitive lap times on a board known for downhill racing was a standout moment—proof that creativity and confidence always have a place on the podium.
Another heartwarming and inspiring story came from the father-son duo ofWaylon and Ronin. Both riders made it into the Open finals, with each also earning a spot on the podium in their own categories. Watching them push each other, support one another, and compete at such a high level was a powerful reminder of the multi-generational spirit that skateboarding thrives on.
Check out some shots from the podiums. Faces lit up with pride and pure stoke. Whether they took home a trophy or just left it all on the track, every rider brought the heat and had a blast doing it. (Click here to see all the podiums)
Beyond the racing, the event was a celebration of community—full of laughter, cheers, and shared stoke across generations and skill levels. We’re grateful to everyone who came out and helped make this an unforgettable day.
