MEDIUM CAVE

The perfect middle ground, enough concave that you always feel glued to your board, but not too much to hurt your feet during a longer cruise.

This larger, directional drop-through longboard comes in at 38" long by 9.9" wide. The shape has been slightly modified for 2020 to work perfectly with the new Gen 6 Grizzly trucks. 8 ply construction in a board of this size results in a tiny amount of dampening flex which works to smooth out your ride on any rougher roads while still being stiff enough to handle some speed and sliding. This board also has a healthy dose of rocker and aggressive concave to keep your feet comfortable and locked in place while freeriding. The Drop Cat comes equipped with our flagship 50 degree 180mm grizzly Gen 6 trucks ideal for deep carves and confident cruising as well as some big 72mm 78a Plow King wheels for a smooth, fast and super grippy ride.

Highlights

  1. Drop mounted for increased stability
  2. Rocker for increased carve and comfortable riding possition
  3. Medium concave locks in your feet.
  4. Perfectly paired components

Great Beginner Board

The Drop Cat is my very first experience with longboarding. I'm 6ft tall and about 200lbs. I wanted something mainly for commuting and I found this to be perfect for that. The board is reasonably flexible in the stock set-up and the Plow Kings ride over cracks, gnarly pavement and debris no problem. The rocker also makes foot placement easy and comfortable. All of this makes for a fast, comfortable ride. You could even swap out for as large as 85mm wheels without any wheel bite.

The main downside I've experienced so far is that while the rocker is really comfortable, it's also a bit twitchy which may cause you to experience some speed wobble when going downhill or even down gentle declines. Tightening the bushing is a good temporary fix, but I'd recommend a higher duro bushing altogether or possibly 43* trucks, rather than 50*. It is also challenging to slide with the Plow Kings. All things considered, I would not recommend bombing big hills with the stock complete.

Lastly, I was really happy that these came with blue Plow Kings rather than black - it really compliments the artwork.
