Art, Skateboards, and Beers

Introducing the Landyachtz X WKNDRS X PBR colab dinghy

This limited collab came about from a shared love of art, beer and East Vancouver. When Pabst approached creative duo the WKNDRS to create art for their latest can series, we all knew we’d need to make a skateboard to celebrate the release. The WKNDRS studio is based blocks away from Landyachtz in East Vancouver where there is a deep culture rooted in a love of art, skateboarding and beer. You’ll often skate by an East Van park and see people hanging out, enjoying a beverage and enjoying each others company. So cheers to all!

CLAIR & RACHEL - WKNDRS

What inspired your art for the this project and what was it like seeing the art transferred from beer can to skateboard?

We were really inspired by supernatural nature. We love the tiger motif and wanted that to be the 'PARTY ANIMAL' of the summer. We wanted the guest to experience good vibes, and be immersed in our light hearted and colorful WKNDRS world with a PBR twist. It was very surreal seeing the art transfer from the beer can to the skateboard. Getting to witness the unfolding of the art at Landyachtz was a really special moment for us and really completed the full collection.

What's it mean to you having this project develop entirely in East Van?

The fact that Landyachz is located in the middle of us is so rad. It's like the ultimate meeting place. Having all of us located in east van, we HAD to collaborate. Community plays an integral role in everything we do and this was the ultimate way to collaborate with our community.

The Dinghy Blunt is a new cruiser shape in the lineup for 2020 and we're stoked on it. This shape has a little extra width where you need it and a good amount of taper to allow for a more directional feel. Matched up with slightly wider trucks, this shape is great for riders with bigger feet or anyone looking for a little more stability and confidence out of their cruiser board.

One Board One Tree

To give back to the environment we have decided that for every skateboard we sell, we plant a tree. One tree produces at least 60 boards. So with our program, one tree will turn into at least 60 new trees planted.

100% Canadian Maple

Canadian Maple is a strong and proven material used in the world’s best skateboards. We source only the finest veneers found in Eastern Canada.

Kicktail

Take your skating into the third dimension with a kicktail. We design our kicktails to work perfectly with each deck shape as well as with the truck and wheel setup on each complete.

LOW CAVE

Mellow concave that barely feels like it’s there, but designed to give you the control you need, when you need it.

SANDED WHEEL WELLS

Wheel wells reduce the risk of wheel-bite by increasing the gap between wheels and deck. Sanded or CNC’d wheel wells both allow for larger wheels or looser trucks, if desired.

Flex Rating

Flex has a big impact on the overall feel of your board and is influenced by a bunch of different factors. The main ones being thickness of the deck, it's wheelbase and rider weight. To put the equation in laymans terms: more flex occurs when you decrease thickness of the deck, increase the wheelbase and increase rider weight. The more flex in your board the more carvy and agile it'll feel, less flex means it's more stable and suited for faster skating. We test every complete with a device we built in house, specifically to standardize flex ratings.

Started with this board!!

I love my board, I take it with me everywhere. I even convinced 2 other friends to buy a cruiser.

I mostly use this as transport, never learned how to do an ollie or powerslide but im still learning.

I had this board for about 10 monthes, here are some of the concerns I had:

Is this board too big for me?

I am about 5'1, with 6 in womens size feet and this board is great. Since the Blunt is recommended for wider feet, I thought I may have gotten the wrong board size, but anyone with any size feet can ride any board, as long as they put in the work to practice.

Will I buy this and never use it?

Take the time to get comfortable riding on it. After that, take it with you everywhere. Especially if you are a college student/live in an area where you dont have to drive everywhere. If you tend to stay indoors or drive everywhere, do what I did and convince friends to get boards too!

You wont regret buying this board, if you take it around and use it enough, it becomes a part of you.
