The Drop Hammer is a symmetrical drop-through longboard measuring 36.5" long and 10" wide. Its low ride height makes it an ideal city commuter and its medium concave and reasonably stiff construction make it a perfect board for an introduction to freeriding and carving on bigger hills. The Drop Hammer has been modified slightly for 2020 to work with the new Grizzly Gen 6 180mm trucks for maximum turning and super deep carves. 69mm 78a Hawgs wheels finish the set up off for super smooth slides.

Flex Rating

So, what’s flex and why is it important to a skateboard? In skate-nerd terms, flex is the amount of displacement a deck sees when a specific amount of force is applied to it. Check out our formula to the left! There are a few factors that affect flex, like deck thickness, wheelbase, and the amount of force on a deck. We built a machine and put our entire lineup to the test by applying the exact same amount of force to all our boards and measured the displacement we saw in each. This gives a totally scientific and accurate flex range across our entire line! It’s important to understand flex when choosing a board. Here are some basics: Downhill/freeride skateboards will have less flex because you need a stiff platform to stand on when you’re bombing or gripping a corner at speed. Carving skateboards will have more flex, giving you the ability to sink into your turns and pump or carve with ease. Most cruisers, dance and ATV boards will have less flex for control when doing tricks but just enough to be forgiving when pushing around town. We’ve engineered our boards with the best flex for each style of riding but remember, flex is subjective so get out a see what you like the most!

First board

I got this as my first board on a recommendation. I’ve been riding it for several weeks and can’t overstate the build quality and comfort of this board. It’s great for a beginner and exactly what I needed for a couple mile commute to the gym.

Fantastic board, great quality!

I've put many 100's of km on my previous longboard, but always found it a bit heavy for carrying. It was longer with larger wheels, so I worried a bit about stepping down to the shorter Land Yachtz Drop Hammer with its 69mm wheels (previous board was 87mm), but after getting the trucks dialed in for carving (I like them loose) the Drop Hammer is working out very well for me! I occasionally go off-roading through the grass, and the 69mm wheels are OK for this. And the board is very stable at higher speeds, maybe even more stable than my previous longer board, so I can speed down larger hills with confidence. I'm so glad I got this board... I only wish that I had got it sooner but my local skateboard shop didn't carry this model and I didn't think about ordering directly from Land Yachtz until recently.

Sick beginner board!

This is my first longboard ever, and I haven’t skated in over a decade. It’s RAD! I live in Yosemite Valley and needed a board that can handle the slightly rougher, debris covered roads. The drop hammer has been great and I’m feeling really confident starting my downhill riding journey.
