The 3rd leg of the 2024 Landyachtz Pump Track Challenge series went down August 18th at Griner Park in Mission, BC. While the track in Mission seemed like it would present a more conventional challenge than last time out at the tricky Inter-River track, the weather had other ideas. Qualifying runs happened on a drying track under dark clouds, meaning everyone was anxious to get their laps in before the rain came.
Landyachtz riders Alex Hannigan and Ben Robinson topped the timing sheet in Open Class qualifying while Katerina Hill and Landyachtz owner Tom Edstrand took the top spots in Women’s and Masters classes respectively. Juniors was shaping up to be a close battle with local rippers Ronin Edwards, James Ross and Cypress Boorman-Keller all qualifying within a second of each other ahead of the other Juniors class competitors.
Between qualifying and the final shootout round, the rain came down hard and threw everyone for a loop. After a brief break for everyone to test out the wet lines, finals started. Aside from a couple spills, everyone was able to get comfortable and the times started dropping quickly on the wet track. Tom Edstrand and Katerina Hill backed up their qualifying times and took home the wins in Masters and Women’s classes while Cypress Boorman-Keller pulled out the lap of the day in Juniors finals, beating his dry qualifying time by half a second on a wet track to jump from p3 in qualifying and take home the win. In open class it went right down to the wire between Alex Hannigan and Ben Robinson with both riders putting it on the line, getting within half a second of their dry times on a wet track, with Ben ultimately taking home the win beating Alex by .05 of a second.
Thanks to everyone who came out and made the Mission Pump Track Challenge a success. Keep your eyes on The Pump Track Hub for more sessions in the Lower Mainland this fall and get ready for more Pump Track Racing in the near future!

We’ve categorized the stiffness of our boards into 3 main groups, listed below. The general rule is the faster you’re skating, the stiffer the deck, but this is not universal.
Flexy – Soft and supple flex profile best suited for carving and cruising on longer boards. The bouncy nature of these decks lets you turn deeper and surf your surrounds.
Medium – The do it all of our boards, a perfect balance of stability and carve.
Stiff – From cruisers to downhill boards a stiff flex profile excels in stability and responsiveness. Whether you’re dipping into driveways or bombing a mountain pass you’ll be down with the stiffness.
