Raft – Messenger

(51 Reviews)

The Raft is inspired by the surfy, functional boards from the early 90’s. This shape is wide and features modern concave, along with a full-size nose and tail. It takes our proven cruiser setups from the Dinghy and Tugboat and puts them into a fun to cruise and perfect for all city skating package. Ideal as a first cruiser, and a favorite among people with a traditional skate background. The Raft will likely be the number one board in your quiver.

DESCRIPTION

At 32.5″ long and a maximum width of 9.9″, this maverick is more like a white-water raft than a dinghy. Featuring artwork by Jordy Garcia Paredes that highlights a blue dyed veneer, every deck has a one-of-a-kind look. The Raft has a subtle taper and big width, matched with a nice, mellow, tub concave to give you lots of foot space and provide added confidence and comfort. The setup is 130mm Polar Bear traditional kingpin trucks and 63mm Fatty Hawgs. Combined with half inch risers for phenomenal wheel clearance, this board adds confidence and flow to your riding style and is secretly a mega carver disguised as an old-school street skate. Cruising has never been livelier than with this beast.

TRUCKS

Polar Bear 130mm

Some of us still like to ride a board that is a bit on the narrower-side. And, of course, you need trucks to match it. If you step down in board size then it’s time to step it up to the 130mm Polar Bears. Sold in pairs. Bushings: 85a is softer, 90a is harder. Softer bushings are more lively but less stable – with 88a being what we usually use in our completes.

WHEELS

63mm Fatty Hawgs

Made famous as the wheel of choice for our Dinghy completes, Fatty Hawgs are now available separately in a multitude of colours and patterns so you can upgrade your cruiser board today. We use the highest quality urethane to ensure these are the best cruiser wheels available on the market. Get a set and see the difference for yourself.

BEARINGS

SPACEBALLS

Spaceballs are our answer to all of your bearing problems.  Never again can you lose your washers, or spacers because we’ve built them into the inner race!  On the functional side, this means your bearings are always mated correctly which negates any bearing-induced chatter.

Super Fun!
This board brings me back to the late 80s when I was ripping my college campus. My favorite Landyachtz board so far. I traded out the 63mm fatty Hawgs for the 63 mm Doozies. Love the surf style feel and the carving with the Doozies is fantastic. A bit top heavy on the front but that's fine its not a nose rider. This board works great on the streets and some nice hills. Love it!!

Raft solitaire review(update since Nov. '22)
This board has been outstanding to me and the abuse I've put it though! The concave in itself eliminates wheelbite, even with 1/4" risers added to lower it down a bit. Has been rolled tumbled and nosed into a car rim. .. have been amazed with the durability. Thought it was a bit front heavy, but with the adjustable truck mounts, was able to get the front end a bit shorter and it feels perfect. Super easy to slide on too!

A very good board.
I've been riding the Raft Solitaire for about six months now and can say that I really do love it. It's not perfect. As another reviewer pointed out, its front heavy and me living in a major city, I found that problematic while skating sidewalks. After some experimentation I now have it dialed in to a configuration that works best for me. I swapped out the Bear 130mm trucks and replaced them with Independent 139mm Stage 11 Hollow trucks. The deck is wide so I find 139mm are a better fit for the width. I also replaced the 1/2 Bear risers with 1/4 Independent risers. And I replaced the 63mm Fatty Hawgs with the new 63mm DOOZIES. This made a big difference. This is my go to board now and I ride it every day!

White water rafting
I love this board it is big so it is good for beginners it also has great speed and turning. I found the spacers to be a little high to I cut there size in half. It is a little front heavy on side walks and could benefit from a little wider wheel base if your listing land yatchts. Over all I would give it a 8.5/10 I love the board but it's not my favorite that I own. Also I don't know if they switched materials for there images but the board quality is great and you can never go wrong with having wheel wells

Beautiful board
Easily the most fun I've had on a skate board. This board is a solid choice for someone looking to get a little more out of a cruiser.

This is my first Landyachtz board and I am very impressed and satisfied with how it rides. Some day I will learn how to slide on hills but not yet.

Flex Ratings

We’ve categorized the stiffness of our boards into 3 main groups, listed below.  The general rule is the faster you’re skating, the stiffer the deck, but this is not universal.

Flexy – Soft and supple flex profile best suited for carving and cruising on longer boards. The bouncy nature of these decks lets you turn deeper and surf your surrounds.

Medium – The do it all of our boards, a perfect balance of stability and carve.

Stiff – From cruisers to downhill boards a stiff flex profile excels in stability and responsiveness.  Whether you’re dipping into driveways or bombing a mountain pass you’ll be down with the stiffness.
