What three Landy board would you take with you on a skate trip and why?
I would personally take The Clark, the Ditch Life, and the Tony Danza, so that I could skate everything from downhill to skatepark to the boardwalk or city streets!
We’ve heard the scene is pretty strong in your hometown, how did it start, what are you doing to support it, and tell us a little bit about it
San Diego is where I grew up and also home to many pioneers of skateboarding, it’s also been said to be a Mecca for skateboarding whether you do tricks or bomb hills. The scene here has always been strong since I was a grom. Today more than ever with weekly sessions, some introducing people into skateboarding, others introducing them to downhill and some dedicated to teaching them how to skate open roads and be safe. Currently, I help run events/meet ups, create media/flyers, fostering new skaters and teaching them as much as I can.
Tell us about Taco Tuesdays
Taco Tuesday is a meet up that was started by Chris Yandall and Chris Buono. Taco Surf in pacific beach has a deal on Tuesday so we cruise the boardwalk and end the night with cheap tacos. I was introduced to it in 2014 and have been coming ever since. The group has changed throughout the years but the vibe is still the same! People can rely on having a good time on their board with good people every Tuesday at 6pm.
How and why did you get into skating?
I started skating when I was 10 years old. At the time I was rollerblading and skateboarding regularly with all my friends. When Poway skatepark opened I started skating there everyday and became addicted. I was introduced to downhill and slalom when I was 24 years old further solidifying my addiction.
We know you’re big into slalom, what do you like about it and how did you get into slalom?
When I learned about downhill I was told I should try slalom and was quickly introduced to Lynn Kramer. Local sessions would go down at pumpstation all the time and I liked the speed and difficulty of it so I went to the sessions a lot. I started racing professionally in 2022 and have now competed in 2 World Skate Games.
What’s your favourite food?
Probably breakfast food. Specifically homemade biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs and some coffee.
What are some of your hobbies or pass times?
I like hiking, art/woodworking, snowboarding, video games, watching movies, traveling and spending time with my family/friends.
