Pump Track Tuesdays:
What a Ride!
Over the last 4 months we were fortunate enough to host indoor pump track nights at the North Shore Bike Park in North Vancouver. Nearly 150 different skaters joined us to record lap times through the winter. We tracked lap times every week and awarded points in two categories: Speed Series and Breakthrough series.

Skate, track, improve.
How Series Standing Works
Speed Series
The Speed Series awards points based on your fastest lap of the day.
Here’s how it works:
✩ 50 points for 1st place, 49 points for 2nd, 48 points for 3rd, and so on.
✩ Your top 5 weekly results will be tallied to determine your season total.
✩ The rider with the highest total points wins the Speed Series title.
It was a tight competition throughout the season, with a wide variety of weekly winners. Halfway through the season community event organizer Chase was in the Top Spot, but through the back half, local legend Jim Barnum and Squamish brothers Odin and Tor were on a tear.
Final results:
🥇 Odin
🥈 Jim Barnum
🥉 Tor
Breakthrough Series
The Breakthrough Series celebrates the riders who achieve the biggest improvement in lap times.
Here’s how it works:
✩ Each week, your best lap is compared to your all-time personal best.
✩ Riders with the biggest breakthroughs earn 50 points for 1st place, 49 for 2nd, 48 for 3rd, and so on.
✩ Like the Speed Series, only your top 5 weekly results count toward the season total.
Lap times improving weekly was one of the most rewarding aspects of the season. Expert skaters and beginners all had the same goal in mind; continually improve.
New lines, different board, advice from friends all factored into riders with lap times over 30seconds, improving weekly and working their way into the low 20’s. It was exhilarating for the whole crew.
The season ended with 3 of the nicest and most consistently improving guys on top:
🥇 Shawn B
🥈 Jeff
🥉 Dmitry
Fastest Laps
Although most of us were shooting to beat ourselves, there were a select few that everyone enjoyed watching and cheering on as they chased the elusive sub 21 second mark. Cam set the bar by breaking into the 20’s on week 5, then continuing to improve on that week after week.
Alex was close breaking into the 20’s on Week 11. The most exciting was seeing Jim edge closer and closer to the sub 21’s finally breaking through on week 18, then getting even closer to Cam’s record on our final night.
🥇 Cam MacGreggor 111111
🥈 Jim Barnum 22222
🥉 Alex hannigan 3333
Best Skate Gear
We had our Landyachtz rack setup and full of demo boards every week. Most people showed up on traditional skateboards, skated some laps then tried a variety of styles of boards. Consistently fastest boards were Dinghies for smaller riders, ATV style boards with slightly softer wheels, or long wheel base boards like the Clark or Dipper.

Community
A strong community quickly developed, a common interest in skating brought people of all ages together, building lasting friendships, and was a highlight of the week for most. Our last night of the year was bittersweet. Everyone enjoyed seeing the final results of a season of fun skating but were disappointed that we wouldn’t be hanging out every Tuesday encouraging one another to improve.

Special Thanks:
A very big thank you to the team at the North Shore Bike park for hosting us! Your facility will be missed while you make the move to Maple Ridge, and we’re looking forward to being there when you open!
Raggie English – a very big thank you for lending us your timing system, it worked flawlessly all season. If your interested in setting up your own weekly timed sessions, we used the SPEED TECH S-001 Single Training Version Wireless Laser Timer.
