Penticton Pump Track Skateboard Challenge

Penticton Pump Track Skateboard Challenge

If we were to rate a pump track event, we’d use three categories: setting, atmosphere, and speed. The Penticton pump track had them all! Picture this: pump track racing in a vineyard. That’s a total vibe. The locals came out in force, and people traveled from out of town, creating a vibrant melting pot of personalities all enjoying the pump track together. We had Ryan on the mic & DJ, the sun shining, smiling faces, and epic skating all night. When we say “sound,” we also mean one of the locals stealing the mic to throw down some epic beatboxing.

The Penticton pump track has some serious bite to it! You pick up speed like crazy on the first straight section, then fly into the first banked corner at mach 10. The speed was electrifying, the track was phenomenal, and the joker lap made this track truly unique, providing the perfect layout for everyone to set their lap times. The racing was incredibly tight, an immense battle to fight for the win. In pump track skating, every last millisecond counts. Allen Chapman clinched the victory by a razor-thin margin of 0.02 seconds over Alex Hannigan in the Open division. Ambrose took home the Junior category win, and Kat Hill dominated the Women’s division.

Flex Ratings

We’ve categorized the stiffness of our boards into 3 main groups, listed below.  The general rule is the faster you’re skating, the stiffer the deck, but this is not universal.

Flexy – Soft and supple flex profile best suited for carving and cruising on longer boards. The bouncy nature of these decks lets you turn deeper and surf your surrounds.

Medium – The do it all of our boards, a perfect balance of stability and carve.

Stiff – From cruisers to downhill boards a stiff flex profile excels in stability and responsiveness.  Whether you’re dipping into driveways or bombing a mountain pass you’ll be down with the stiffness.
